Change is coming

Change is coming

We live in very demanding and certainly changing times. In my life’s journey – now 78 – I have had the good fortune to travel and live in other countries and cultures outside of Western domination. I have also been especially interested and aware of the indigenous cultures across our world, in particular the Mayan People and the Hopi. They, as with the Australian Aborigines, have indeed pinpointed our time period as one of major change. In our Western, Caucasian, ‘all-knowing’ arrogance, we dismiss the insights of indigenous peoples, who have ancient, yet similar, observations relating to this time period.

How can we ignore them?

I think we can agree that cycles are a fact and are observable in many areas of our lives. Seasons come and go – the moon – the tides of the oceans – women’s menstrual cycles – our own life cycle of 90-years plus/minus – the movement of the stars – Ice Ages – we live within cycles great and small. Is it not possible that our indigenous peoples might have known or know something that we disregard?

Let us look at other factors we are ignoring that indicate major changes could be on the horizon. At the turn of the last century there were around 1.5 billion people on the planet. In just 114 years we have reached eight billion! This exponential increase is now at a crisis level and we are running out of space. Food prices rise as it becomes increasingly difficult to produce enough to feed the world’s growing population – ie: Thailand, a major rice exporter has now stopped exporting rice, I believe because it is concerned about having enough rice to feed its own people.

This may just be the start of a growing protectionist attitude emerging within different countries to protect their own as the situation becomes increasingly critical. In this respect we in Canada are particularly vulnerable as we only produce about twenty percent of our food needs and import eighty percent. The reverse is true in Russia – a geographical area not dissimilar to our own – in which they produce eighty percent of their needs and import twenty percent! Seeing these figures should serve as a wake-up call to Canadians – yes?

Weather anomalies across the globe are another element adding to this growing crisis and that includes earthquakes and volcanic eruptions that are becoming more frequent. Here in Canada we have been, to a large extent, saved from much of this, but that is changing. Nor are lines on a map going to protect any of us from weather catastrophes.

On top of all this, we continue to face a global financial crisis as the existing system outgrows itself and dishonesty great and small is exposed. Indeed, this system has exposed our vulnerabilities as nations threatened with collapse, and as individuals who struggle with temptations which acted upon seriously harm others. Politicians are at a loss as to how to resolve these crises and have engineered ‘solutions’ that are only compounding the fragility of it all. We are now at a tipping point in this bankers’ illusory world. People are aware of the behaviour of the Banking Industry, et al, if only subconsciously, increasing fear with respect to financial survival almost everywhere.

One final observation: Since the time of the ancient pharaohs of Egypt, we have lived in a Patriarchal Age in which women have been largely “dumbed” down and we have been ruled by little boys who behave like bullies in the school yard. We have clear examples of this in today’s world in Iran and North Korea, as well as the sad Afghanistan situation, and of course, Syria, to name a few more obvious instances. This attitude prevails across the world in most countries, albeit more subtly.

However, as we move from the Patriarchal Age to the Aquarian Age we will see the Divine Feminine emerging to take its true place in these coming times, with women recognized as equals, in societies that focus on moving towards a world of Community in which we all work together – men and women – within our personal arenas, be they small or large, and not competing against each other as we do now in societies built around finances. I also feel that those ‘lines on a map’ that separate us will all disappear. Indeed we ARE all one humanity and we need to recognise this as we move forward into the coming age.

Perhaps what our Indigenous peoples, through their Shamans, have known is that with the ending of this 26,000 year cycle we will observe a cleansing of the garbage we have accumulated throughout this passing age. You cannot build a new building on a rotten foundation. I have observed more and more ‘ordinary’ people are waking up to this accumulated ‘garbage’ factor – largely thanks to the internet – that has controlled humanity through this last age, and people are saying, “Enough is Enough!”

I write this not to create fear. I am providing information, at least as I see it. What you do with that information is up to you. I suggest we hang onto our hats and go for the ride!

The Approaching Storm, A Guest Post by Michael Brine

By Michael Brine

Note: Some of you may have read about ‘The Approaching Storm’ in my earlier writings. There is much more to our joint story – yours and mine – so bear with me as I connect the dots. M.B.

“When Love and Power unite, almighty Grace endows Mankind.” Schuler

Humanity, and indeed all life on this planet, has now reached a critical juncture in its evolutionary process. Frankly, we are in a mess! We are at the brink of total collapse!

We need to stand back – pause – and take a very deep breath, and review as dispassionately as we can the main factors that have brought us to this unfolding crisis.

We continue to try to resolve our differences by going to war and killing each other. Most of the disparities that lead to war have been caused by differences in religion, mainly the three Abraham-based religions–Islam, Judaism and Christianity. These religions have used fear as the ingredient to maintain control based largely on a judgmental god, a god WE–by that I mean through religions—have created!

Another factor is the pressure of global population–a factor we largely ignore. Perhaps, understandably, because, what can we do about it? Indeed–what? Here in Canada where I live, we are largely insulated from this particular pressure because of our relatively large landmass.

To give the overpopulation matter some perspective, in 1900 the global population was between one and 1.5 billion. That’s 1900 A.D., by the way. Today – some 111 years later – it has reached seven billion! The basic reason is not simply because of improved living conditions – which is questionable in many countries – but because of the exponential factor: 2+2=4 – 4+4=8 – 8+8=16 – 16+16=32, and so on.

Indeed, we are eroding the land used for crop production as cities expand — add to that increasing weather anomalies across the globe – and it becomes clear we are seriously affecting our ability to grow food. We are already witnessing food prices spiralling upwards.

Another factor which seriously divides us is what I call lines on a map – separate countries. Despite our conditioning to think otherwise, we are one people on this earth. We are called human. Yes, we are subdivided into various races but like other life forms sharing this world with us – ie: dogs, made up of many separate breeds — we too have different ‘breeds,’ but are ultimately one people called Human.

Now, another fundamental element that is a major factor in all of this is the cyclic nature of all livings things. The fact that we have arrived at this global population crisis also corresponds with the fact that we are on the cusp of a cyclic change on our planet. It is no accident that these two elements have coincided. Increasing weather anomalies, volcanic disturbances, tsunamis, flooding and hotter weather conditions manifesting across the globe are all indicators that things are not ‘normal,’ whatever normal is anymore! It would seem even our global financial situation is about to collapse. Hhhmmm – buying gold won’t feed your stomach. This is a time for common sense faced, as we are, with this impending crisis.

To put our collective heads in the sand will not make it go away. We need to face up to the fact that Nature – Gaia –is subject to the same conditions as we are except on a larger scale. The human species has become like an infestation on this earth comparable to a hoard of ants. There are limits to all things and we have arrived at ours. Gaia has been heaving and barking at an ever increasing and accelerated rate as we have seen over these last few years. Telling her to “Cool it” or “Shut up” will have no effect! 🙂

We have reached the tipping point –so what now?

Well – one more bit of delightful information. I have recently been told from several reliable sources that there is a comet on its way towards Earth that will pass very close to our southern hemisphere. Its arrival is likely to be before the end of this year. Its affect will be to create a substantial rising of ocean waters. More northern areas such as northern Canada and the Siberian parts of Russia will have the least damage. Only time will tell – and it would seem that ‘time’ is perhaps all we have!

Here I cannot avoid bringing in the “End Times” factor and the Mayan Calendar synchronicity with all of this. I do not think we can say that this is just a coincidence. It is not! Also, let me add a “P.S.” here. The date for the end of the Mayan Calendar is NOT the 21st of December 2012 as erroneously claimed by the mass media. It is in fact THIS year on the 28th October 2011. The true Maya shamans et al support this, including the Swedish microbiologist and professor who is also a long time student of the Maya – Carl Johan Calleman – who is a recognised expert on this calendar.

Now, let us pause and reflect for a moment. If ‘hard times’ do happen, or something even more devastating, we need to learn from our past errors and not repeat them. We have been living in a Patriarchal age over the last almost 6000 years, and by definition it has been an age ruled by men. In this coming age we are now transiting towards there must be a balance between the masculine and feminine. This apart from anything else is essential. We must also in future learn to work in concert with each other as
in communities – not in competition with each other, but in harmony and sharing. These two elements will be fundamental.

“Money” as a ‘paper’ medium of exchange whether actual paper or by an Internet exchange, should be eliminated. This process that we drifted into over this past age – has been the fundamental cause of so much corruption, along with the resulting pain caused to individuals.

After this approaching storm has passed there will be a great silence across the lands. Then, we will slowly begin to pick ourselves up and survey the damage, and as we move forward hopefully, we will reflect and learn from it all. New energies will strengthen us as we acknowledge and understand that we need to promote honest interaction, love and respect, with all those we connect with.

Now, let me share a very supportive quote by David Korten, Chairman of the Board of “Yes” magazine:

“The human brain is wired to support creativity, cooperation, and life in community. That is our nature. The prevalence of materialism, greed, competition, and violence common in modern society is a symptom of severe cultural and institutional dysfunction.

We humans inhabit a wondrous but finite living planet with a self-organizing biosphere to which we must adapt our lives and economies.

Life, not money, is the true measure of value; monies only legitimate use is in life’s service. An obsession with making money is a sign of psychological and social dysfunction.

Markets are essential to the function of a healthy democratic society. Their proper function, however, depends on proper rules implemented by democratic governments under the watchful eye of a strong and dynamic civil society.

Finally, story power is the ultimate power. Authentic stories liberate the human consciousness, build immunity to cultural manipulation, and give us the courage and insight to create a world of peace and prosperity for all.”

Thank you very much, David Korten, and also to my valued friend Magi, bless her cotton socks, who sent me David’s writings
above! Also, thanks to my friend Menno for his valued insights over many years, especially relating to this possible comet heading our way.

Herein lies our future. Can we rise to the occasion? We must – it is our joint mission – but first we must pass and endure the cleansing Fire about to manifest before us. With the help of angels by whatever name and from wherever they may come from – we will! So be it! As a wise teacher of mine once said, “There is no such thing as a mistake, only unrealized wisdom.”
