We humans have such an interesting history when you read from the spiritual and “mythological” recordings left us by people like Rudolf Steiner and Edgar Cayce: We are beings, children of the Divine One, who were tempted away from paradise by a fallen divinity who promised us hidden knowledge. We became free-willed beings prematurely, Steiner says, and were lost from home, feeling guilty and confused.
Then there are the stories of Atlantis, where we developed spiritual powers and perhaps used crystals to generate energy, then used them against each other to the point of the destruction of everything, kind of like a ‘nuclear’ war. Some say humans mixed with animals in the ancient past, creating the half man/half beasts like the Centaur. I guess our Creator didn’t like that and put a stop to it with DNA corrections. Vampires and wolf-men live in the great unconscious mind of humanity, as do many other spooky things.
We humans might have been wiped off of Earth four times now. Every culture has a story of a Great Flood. The planet shows marks of a multitude of comet craters, with some blasts so large, the Earth was likely knocked off its axis, resulting in severe weather changes. Of course, there are the ancient cave drawings of “spacemen” and speculation of off-world visitors and maybe even that some of us are mixed-blood descendants of these beings. I love the mysterious and unknown and wonder if these things could be true. This wondering causes a person to be labeled wacky—but what if they are true? Would it change the way you see yourself and life?
The typical history book doesn’t record these things. Hah! Many things that happened in the modern era have been removed or modified in history books. Certain people control what we are and aren’t allowed to know and wherever white men have slaughtered and conquered and enslaved others, the records have been “redacted.” It’s interesting that some white folks consider themselves to be the pure race, the “deserve to be large and in charge” folks, but it is the white race that generally has been so impure, so destructive to other races and the planet. Anything goes when large-and-in-charge wants what he wants.
Regardless of what happened in the ancient past or what we’re allowed to know about humankind’s physical history, what’s important is that we realize that we are spiritual beings who come from the spiritual world, who take on physical bodies to grow. Because we “fell” here, we have to grow here. Not that we can’t grow in the spiritual world, but I guess that depends a lot on how we lived. Apparently, the more we remember here that we are spiritual beings (souls), members of God’s body, the more growth-work we can do on the other side.
There are two roads to choose from on Earth: Become consumed by the heaviness of living our desires, and the mad rush of our tech-driven lives; or step back and ask some questions. Who am I? Why am I here? Am I more than a body? Is there more to life than me-me-me? Me-me-me shuts down our view from the mountain top and our path becomes constricted and straight, like riding a bullet train. The pauser and questioner sees a broader expanse, feels compassion for others not as blessed as he is, and wants to see through the veil to the “more” place. It’s beautiful, peaceful and quiet there. It’s healing, connectedness and Spirit-driven, spontaneous and light.
How does that sound to you? Is it scary or worth exploring? Only you can decide how you will spend your life, but I am a witness of flying time. One day you’re twenty-five, the next you’re sixty-five. We can all at least remember: “There is More,” so that when we’re ready, those words will dance through our minds on wings of light, leading us into a quiet space within where we can lie back on the grass, gaze at the periwinkle expanse above and link up with the Great Mystery, ready to find the answers to our deepest questions.
We are children of Love, and Love awaits.

In light of disturbing developments in the world, I’d like to share with you the prophecy given in Bulgaria by a man named Peter Deunov (1864-1944), just prior to his death in 1944. Civilizations using fear as their weapon are causing great suffering to many over whom they [mis]-use their power. The sexual enslavement of women – and that’s what in essence it is – in these more extreme régimes is disgusting and inhuman. To enshroud abuse under the cover of any “religion” is an insult to the great teachers and prophets; to God, who has created all things equal; and to our own inborn intelligence.
Peter Deunov was a being of a very high level of consciousness, while at the same time an incomparable musician, who gave during his whole life an example of purity, wisdom, intelligence and creativity. For years he was established close to Sofia, where he lived surrounded by numerous disciples; and he, by his radiance, awakened the spirituality of thousands of souls in Bulgaria, and throughout Europe during his time.
Some days before his departure to the other world, he remained in a profound mediumistic trance and he made an extraordinary prophecy in regards to the troubled epoch that we are crossing today – a prophecy about the “end of time” and the coming of a new Golden Age for humanity. It is long, but it is a deeply moving testament. It feels current and is so vibrant, one could almost doubt that these words were spoken 70 years ago.
“During the passage of time, the consciousness of man traversed a very long period of obscurity. This phase which the Hindus call “Kali Yuga,” is on the verge of ending. We find ourselves today at the frontier between two epochs: that of “Kali Yuga” and that of the New Era that we are entering.
A gradual improvement is already occurring in the thoughts, sentiments and acts of humans, but everybody will soon be subjugated to divine Fire, that will purify and prepare them in regards to the New Era. Thus man will raise himself to a superior degree of consciousness, indispensable to his entrance to the New Life. That is what one understands by “Ascension.”
Some decades will Pass before this Fire will come, that will transform the world by bringing it a new moral. This immense wave comes from cosmic space and will inundate the entire earth. All those that attempt to oppose it will be carried off and transferred elsewhere.
Although the inhabitants of this planet do not all find themselves at the same degree of evolution, the new wave will be felt by each one of us; and this transformation will not only touch the Earth, but the ensemble of the entire cosmos. The best and only thing that man can do now is to turn towards God and improve himself consciously, to elevate his vibratory level, so as to find himself in harmony with the powerful wave that will soon submerge him. This post from The Great Rudolf Steiner Quotes site answers the questions: Why do we come to Earth? How did we gain our individual natures? Rudolf Steiner had the ability to look into the spiritual world and he reported his findings during his lifetime.
At the primeval time of his development man had not only the two states he now has, of sleeping and waking and between these a chaotic dreamy state; there was then a, third state, in which reality was present. This was not merely a state of dreaming, for in it man was able, although his consciousness was damped down, to see pictures and to learn by them, for these pictures were true to spiritual reality.
Now, as we know, in order that man should develop the full Earth-consciousness, this method of perception had to be withdrawn. If it had persisted, man would never have gained his freedom, he could not have become free if he had not been subjected to all the dangers, arguments and temptations of materialism; but he has to find his way back again to the Spiritual world, and must now be able to grasp it in…

Happy Easter, my friends! Happy Spring! Today is a good day to celebrate the Love of our Creator and the promises of Spring, in spite of the darkness sweeping over our world. Inspiration shines with the light of the sun: “Be not afraid. Love is with you. You are healed and made whole. Serve Love, spread Love, regardless of what happens to you, for Love walked among you and resides within you. Go forth with courage, knowing darkness is a hologram that cannot touch a soul filled with Love.”
In spite of this wave of darkness, in spite of the hard hearts seemingly in charge: We were not made to hate each other, to disparage others, or to judge others as less than ourselves. We were made to love, to serve, to respect. Anything less is a lie fabricated by those seeking only self-gain. We are called to see through the lies.
The Universal Thread of Love and Respect
As you want men to treat you, do so to them. Luke 6:31
What is hurtful to yourself do not to your fellow man. That is the whole of The Torah and the remainder is but commentary.
Do not do unto others what angers you when done to you by others.
He should not wish for others that which he does not wish for himself.
Do unto all men as you would they should unto you, and reject for others what you would reject for yourself.
The sum of all righteousness: do not to others which if done to yourself would cause you pain.
A man should treat all life as he himself would like to be treated.
Hurt not others with that which pains yourself.
Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire.
Today is a good day to realize that we can stay the darkness by loving others as we ourselves desire to be loved. Let us heal ourselves and our world with Love. Heaven is calling. Let us answer.
There’s something unbalancing in the very air now. A force is pushing to break the people of the “united” states apart. We’re labeling the situation as liberals vs. conservatives, red states vs. blue, Democrats vs. Republicans, caring people vs. non-caring people. But it’s something more than that.
Just as there are forces of good in the Universe, our Creator being the source of Goodness, there are forces that broke away from the light (do we, can we, know why?). They have created their own ‘worlds’ in the spiritual world and operate from there. We can’t see them, per se, but we can see them acting through human beings gone mad, those who have killed masses of people with guns or vehicles in just a few moments. We can see these beings working in broken people, in drug abusers, in serial killers, in the worst of the narcissists, who include most, if not all, of those top one percenters who control the world with their wealth.
The one percenters think of us as their puppets, maybe even slaves and while they want to keep some percentage of us around to do their bidding, they also seem intent upon destroying the planet and most of the life upon it. For a long time, this didn’t make sense to me. Then I read some of Rudolf Steiner’s material. Ah, ha!
Not only are we humans evolving, our planet is evolving, too. And, if I understand him correctly, it’s all part of God’s master plan to bring all of us fallen souls back to spiritual wholeness and light. According to Steiner, this plan pivots on the sacrifice of Christ Jesus (man and God uniting, God becoming man) and literally re-enlivening our dying souls through the acts of his own brutal death, descent into hell, his resurrection and his uniting with the planet Earth upon his ascension. He is right here with us, Steiner says, holding the light in the Earth, healing our broken places with his love if we will let him.
But we also have to act. It is our responsibility to look beyond the Us vs. Them template being pressed upon us right now. We need to observe the situation as if we’re standing on the peak of a very high mountaintop that flies from region to region, country to country. We’re so high up, we can only see the tiny bodies of human beings going about their business in the cities and towns below. We notice similar behaviors and rhythms everywhere we go. People living their lives look pretty much the same across the world because we humans are the same. We are all born with hopes and dreams, grow up taking our knocks, live our lives as best as we can with what we’re given, and hopefully later than sooner, cross back to the other side.
But there are those opposing forces. They’re dark, deadly serious, cold-hearted and cruel. They fell away from the light, we humans fell, too (at least those of us on Earth), and they want to keep it that way. They want our souls, our life forces, our slave labor. They want to hurt our dear Mother Earth. And now we see their handiwork clear as day: break America into at least two pieces, cause another civil war which, if they’re lucky, might just spread into a nuclear war, and, “Voila! They’ve won!” Destroyed God’s creation, along with His redemptive plan of love and healing.
You or I may think we’re better than that guy or lady over there, but it’s not true. In fact, thinking those thoughts automatically makes them better than us. While each of us can raise ourselves up in our own minds here and wreak destruction if we want to, we will not be raised up on the other side. We will have an awful lot of work to do. And destruction is not why we were made. We were made to love and to serve, to care and to heal. We were made for connection, with our Creator, the angels, and each other.
I think we humans need to get together and talk about one another’s lives. And the Human Library Organization is doing just that around the world, with thirty Human Libraries now in the U.S. Read about them at Human Libraries.
The one percenters can’t push us to destroy each other if we realize we’re being manipulated. We don’t have to separate. We don’t have to hate each other. It is possible to take a look from the mountaintop and wake up.
I never had a problem with Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. I figure God created the whole universe, so whether He or She made us to evolve from animals, or we were simply planted here one day, or we were created through some mysterious process currently unknown to us, doesn’t seem to matter so much. Whatever our Creator’s plan is, I’m certain it’s much more expansive than anything we can grasp, at least for now.
There’s still so much that both science and religion don’t know, and I think it’s far more honest to acknowledge this and say, “You know, we really don’t understand how this (or that) happened. Everything’s a theory at this point.” If any of us ever do stumble upon ‘the truth,’ it will probably be the physicists. Even now, they’ve discovered we consist of vibrating atoms that are made up of mostly empty space. Isn’t that cool? Is the empty space where our souls reside? I don’t know, but why not tell our school children the truth and encourage them to (ad)venture forth and discover?
I think we’re spiritual beings with the potential for insights and powers so wonderful that the next hundred years of discoveries could boggle our minds–if we can plow through the current wave of darkness sweeping over America. It’s as if a heavy dark blanket is smothering our country, pressing the ‘heart’ out of us. We need to remember: It is only a dark blanket. It is nothing compared to the Light emanating toward us from the heavens, inspiring the sparks of light residing in our souls.
When we get past this, we will look back at world history, at egomania and war and shake our heads, because we have mostly lived like animals, with ‘survival of the fittest’ our credo. In our future, I can see a planet where the hopes and dreams of a woman holding her sick child somewhere in Africa are as important to me as mine are. I mean, why am I more important than her? Why are you? Why should her child not have a safe environment, a decent home, clean water and good food to grow a healthy mind and body?
Maybe ‘survival of the fittest’ was a reaction to this darkness, but we’ve nearly destroyed our beautiful world in so living. Our future is ripe with possibility to transcend the mess we’ve made, to make the next evolutionary leap. We probably still won’t know everything (that would be boring, anyway), but maybe we’ll work out how to get along, how to make sure every soul has a loving environment, a family and friends, access to education, health care and meaningful work. Maybe our condition won’t be measured by our material wealth, but by our spiritual wealth. Now that’s a dream of the heart worth focusing on.
How can any of us lose loved ones and the rest of us not understand? It is so much a part of all of us, the coming of the new little ones and the passing-on of our elders, of all of us at one time or another, some lives short and some lives long. In one door and out the other, or is it the same door? I wonder if it could be and I wish we knew.
Life here is so temporary and we all ache to understand more, to know the truth: How was the universe made? Are we made from star dust–dirt? Are we more than bodies? Why do we come and go? It truly is all a great mystery, a great cosmic stage on which we appear–to try and figure it all out? To try and figure ourselves out, or maybe figure out God, or how we fit together?
Compared to when I was 30 and certain of so many things, I feel like I’ve gone backwards, understanding less every day. I long to know why we humans fight so much, why the loudest voice wins—wins what?—and why has our country taken the direction it has? Hate, separation, racism, fear, destruction of people’s lives?
Do we really care only about ourselves, our own families—that’s it? Does it matter what race or gender or party-card we signed when our country could be lost? I think we need to open our minds and hearts, to say we’re sorry for all the separating-BS and that we’re ready now to work on solutions together.
Or is this moment in time not about solutions and agreement? Is it about a breaking, a breaking of our country, of us? Breaking cannot be more painful, but it comes also with tremendous potential for personal and spiritual growth. There is a bigger picture and a process at work—something is happening. We can all feel it. It’s in the air and water and gasoline and in our food. It’s in the stress levels of the people around us. It’s everywhere.
In breaking, the fake stuff that meant so much is seen for what it is. The significant shines in the light. If we mean to be a part of the bigger picture, now would be a very good time to commit to the highest good for all.
Quick, what came first, the chicken or the egg? Which came first, the Male God or the Female Goddess? If we were to ask a mythological male god, he might thunder, “Why I did, of course! Through my power, all was created.” The goddess might smile and say, “Isn’t he funny? Without Love, there would be no creation.”
There may have been a time when matriarchal energy guided our planet, but we have been, without question, ruled by a patriarchal system for thousands of years. Feminine energy isn’t aggressive and doesn’t crave land, power, or riches, and is not willing to go to war over such things. In many organizations, men still lead and women must follow. Equal pay for equal work might exist at minimum wage jobs, but it does not exist in many white-collar professions. In fact, most of those positions are held by men.
Many women around the world still must cover their bodies, even their faces in some countries. In modern societies, we women have burned our bras and removed much of our clothing–most likely a reaction to male rule–but this has only added to the confusion and fear. Young women think, “Look at me. Let him resist this!” He can’t resist, but he probably won’t stay long after the sex.
Our country is a mess—the world is a mess. War and power grabbing are not the answers. Dominance incites rebellion and ultimately fails. Even though the U.S. president says so, the value of a man should not be measured by what he has accumulated, the power he wields or his sexual prowess. Women should not be measured by their beauty and feminine wiles. All human beings have both masculine and feminine energies within and wholeness is found together, in balance.
To save ourselves, to save our Earth Mother, we must balance the prevailing dominating energy with cooperative energy, logic with nurture, aggression with love, independence with interdependence. What would that world look like? It would be loving, peaceful, healing, respectful. People wouldn’t feel so lost and lonely, and men and women wouldn’t be so afraid of each other. The truth is, male and female, we need each other.
Beyond the matters of sexual preference and procreation, it’s clear that if only men existed, it wouldn’t be long before you’d have warred yourselves to death. And, we women? For the most part, we’d be lonely and unfulfilled, longing for our other halves and children. We need you guys to open your hearts and expand your thought processes. It’s time for us to work together–to find balance, to find the deeper meaning in living, and to give thanks for our lives and for each other.
I was struck by the beauty of the night sky last night. I wondered how anyone could believe that all life–us, the world, our galaxy, the universe–was not fashioned by some magnificent being, some creative force. And, no matter what we humans do to each other and our planet, the Creator must be a force of good because only goodness can radiate such beauty in the face of humanity’s destructive, egocentric actions. As I have aged, I see beauty everywhere: the sky, a tree, a leaf, a dragonfly or a rock, birds and other critters. Beauty is everywhere because it is the essence of all living things on Earth.
And children, even in apartments where their lives are full of stress, play, laugh and learn the fine art of negotiation. Boys will be boys and say things like, “My light saber has more power than yours,” and in response: “It does not! I challenge you to a sword fight!” I’ve watched their plastic-sword fights, which are usually quite short because something else soon catches their attention. I have seen girls with their heads together. “I can’t believe she talked to him,” plotting some sort of payback. Sometimes kids said hi and came along for part of my walk. They told me about themselves, what was on their minds and I tried to offer a kind word or two. Our own beauty is in learning who we are and why we are here. Our inner beauty is always present, waiting only for us to knock on its door.
I thought about our Creator (Him/ Her/ Spirit/ Light Within) as I looked at the sky last night and wondered how He feels when our hearts swell with love for Him/Her. Having endlessly broadcast Love in our direction, it’s got to be pretty wonderful when it’s finally returned. There really are only two ways to live, two worlds, and we get to choose: See the beauty and feel the Love, or separate and feel the pain and struggle. We, on this planet, are the sheep who got lost and who the Master comes after so that not even one beloved lamb is lost.
I know several people who give their homes a good scrubbing a few days before New Year’s Day. Makes sense to set the foundation for the next year on a clean note, doesn’t it?
It’s also good to clear as much clutter as possible; clutter stops the flow of good energy. You can change your furniture around, or rearrange your collectibles to change the way energy flows in your home. Bring in fresh flowers or bowls of fruit for your dining table on January 1, signifying abundance in the new year.
Set Your Intentions
New Year’s Day is the best day to set your intentions for the new year with a prayer or affirmation. It’s good to speak in only a positive manner on January 1st, of your hopes, dreams and goals. Leave the past, negativity and sorrows behind for the day.
I found this prayer, I Call Upon the Divine, online a couple years ago. I loved it, modified and used it for myself, without, unfortunately, writing down the author’s name—but I’d like to share it here. (If you know the author of this prayer, please contact me with the web address and I will link it to this post.)
This is only an example of one prayer, in which the word “Divine” covers all divine beings. (You can substitute “Divine” with the word you use for God.) Choose your prayer and stand in the center of your home early New Year’s Day and speak it aloud:
I call upon the Divine!
I ask that you bless this home with Divine Love
and with Divine Wisdom.
I ask that you bless this home with Divine Understanding
and with Divine Compassion.
I ask that you bless this home with Divine Harmony
and with Divine Joy.
I ask that you bless this home with Divine Protection.
I ask you to bless all who enter our home,
especially those who join our family in the coming year.
May the blessings of all Divine beings be with us.
Thank you to the Great Loving Center of the Universe
for your Love and Blessings.
House plants said to bring blessings to our homes, thus making great gifts, include the Dwarf Banana, Golden Pothos, Goosefoot, Peace Lily, Pepperomia, Jade, Purple African Violets, Rosemary and Bamboo plants (with an uneven number of stalks).
Open Your Windows
On New Year’s Eve or Day, burn incense, such as sage, frankincense, myrrh, lavender, peppermint or sweet grass. Then open all your windows, even if it’s cold, just for a moment, affirming that as the fresh air enters your home, the incense carries out the old, stale air and vibes.
To Keep a Peaceful Home in the New Year
Be willing to look at your thoughts and actions in the new year. Accept responsibility for what you say and do. Recognize your part in the problems of your life.
Wish everyone well, especially your ‘enemies,’ for love is the only way to make them into friends. Bless them wholly and without hesitation. Repeat to yourself, “God bless us, everyone,” until you mean it. You might want to check out the powerful 40-Day Forgiveness Prayer, which can change your life. As Gandhi said, ‘Be the person you want others to be.’
If you have plans to start the new year right, please share them with us in a comment below. Thanks! And a blessed and happy new year to all!

Many people are left feeling hopeless and devoid of happiness when they’re addicted to drugs or alcohol, but those who go through the recovery process often regain that missing piece of their life. Many even gain a closer relationship with God.
Faith can help a recovering addict stick with their sobriety, but likewise, sobriety can help someone find God and keep Him close at all times.
Eric, who abused drugs (including heroin) for two years, received significant help from A Forever Recovery’s faith-based track.
“I was just sucked in — I just loved it and everything about it,” he said. “The people that run it are awesome. We just have a good time — we sing, we get into the Word. I’m definitely going to continue that… I’m going to enroll in celebratory recovery classes and go to church. We all really come together and support each other. It’s just a great group of people here. You’ve got to do this for the right reasons and put the work in. I’m not going to say it’s easy, because it’s tough work. But what’s six to seven weeks compared to the rest of your life? Every time you load that needle up or do whatever you do, it’s like playing Russian Roulette. It’s the truth.”
Alex was using OxyContin, Opana and painkillers before going to treatment, where he too received help from God.
“Without my faith, I don’t believe I would have made it this far,” he said. “It instilled the values that I hold dear in my heart, and it really just helped me get through tough times. We did baptisms. I didn’t plan on getting baptized the day I did at all, but something spoke to me and told me, ‘Go ahead. Go through with it. Go into the water.’ And it was a really refreshing experience. It was like an old piece of me died and a new heart was beginning. I knew that my addiction and drugs were a problem, but I knew the main problem was with myself and how I dealt with hardships and disappointments. It blew me out of the water learning what I could do with myself.
“They helped me handle those negative emotions and gave me coping skills in so many different ways,” he continued. “They didn’t say, ‘Here’s the way we’re going to do it. Here’s the way you’re always going to do it.’ It’s not like that.
“Definitely get the help you need. I can’t speak enough on how valuable it is that you get help, and you ask for help. You can’t do it alone. I could not have done this alone. I strictly urge you to follow through with your instinct to get help.”
Wesley, another recovering addict, thanks God for the people who are “on the front lines of withdrawal” who “paved the way” and gave him the opportunity to give himself a chance at life.
“My favorite part, although it was hard for me, was to take an opportunity to give my growth some consideration,” he said. “I’ve gained some tools, some insight, some awareness to be able to not misplace hostility on people who have nothing to do with what is going on inside my head. I’m not scared because I’ve been prepared for the inevitable, and that is to take back my life. … Now I’m ready to move on with my life. I’m ready to be a productive member of society and take back a life that I so irresponsibly threw away.”
Addiction recovery facilities like A Forever Recovery and others are making a huge impact on people’s lives. Clearly, God and the faith He gives to people deserves a great deal of the credit as well.
Amanda Bartow believes there is only one greater feeling than being recognized for a job well done — the fulfillment that comes from honoring someone’s achievements! This is what inspired her to join the Recognition Works team. (Recognition Works is an organization that recognizes outstanding people.)
