The Story of Stuff

Story of Stuff, the Book

In a college class, my middle son recently viewed this twenty-minute short that focuses on the taking of resources, the making of products (stuff), the storage of wastes created in production, the transportation of stuff, the marketing and selling of things, how much trash is created by all this stuff; and how we never pay the true price of making these items–but our planet and our bodies (our health) do.

This is, by far, the most basic, clearest, non-judgmental explanation of how we became super-consumers and wasters that I’ve ever seen, or ever imagined seeing. Please take 20 minutes and enlighten yourself about how we have been so seriously conned, and how little we or the planet mean to the CEOs of these huge companies. More consumption isn’t the answer: The things we buy and buy and buy, we toss and toss and toss.
