The Circle of Life

The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran (1997, Hardcover, Pocket)

Kahlil Gibran writes of human nature as unfolding in a circular manner: We start at the top of the circle, born of  God, and as we take on a physical form, we descend into matter and the world of right and wrong, good and bad, high and low, light and dark. We’re at our lowest point at the bottom of the circle and then we begin our upward journey on the circle of life back toward God. Gibran’s writings have always inspired me. His most well-known book is called The Prophet. It is impossible to read and not be inspired, and understand more about who we humans are. This book would be among the most inspired of choices you could make for a gift this year.

We are each a dot on the circle, somewhere on our predestined journey, working our way around the ring—even if we don’t know it. This year, during our holiday celebrations, let us help ourselves and each other move around on the upward journey.

  1. I just bought THE PROPHET from I may still have another copy of it buried somehwhere in my garage, but needed to have it NOW. It’s just very comforting to know that we are ALL on the path, at different points along the way. Now we can remove obstacles to make it easier on those that follow and we can assist them instead of judging them. It’s God’s love that will sustain us and it’s His love that will carry us forward.
